Bike Ride from John o’Groats to Lands End, Saturday 6th May – Monday 15th May 2023

In May 2023 Hamish & Garen join a group of 30 cyclists with PD for the gruelling challenge of cycling 1000 miles from John o’Groats to Land’s End in just 10 days. In teams of four, each PD cyclist will take their turn to ride a section of the route covering 25 miles each, per day, (250 miles per rider over the course of the 10 days).

The PD cyclists will be following in the tracks of the ‘professionals’ who will be cycling a 100 miles each, per day from John o’Groats to Land’s End, covering the 1000 miles in just 10 days! The pro team is made up of Henry Deakin and three others. Their aim is to raise a £100,000 for Parkinson's UK.

The training for this cycling challenge has already begun and Hamish is knee deep in the organising & planning – “there is lots to be done. Overnight accommodation needs to be booked for each rider, for the 10 nights. (That’s 30 bedrooms, in 10 different B&B’s, a grand total of 300 bedrooms!) The support team is slowly coming together, we have a medic, physio, bike engineer and several trusty volunteers looking after our food & water. We will need schedule in stops to take on a large number of calories throughout the day as well further stops to take the meds that we need to help with our individual Parkinson’s needs”.
